22nd meeting of the East Central and South-East Europe Division of the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names will take place in Bratislava, Slovakia on 13 February 2019. The meeting will be held in the premises of Geodesy, Cartography and Cadastre Authority of the Slovak Republic.
The meeting is organized in five sessions. Except opening and clossing session, one session will be dedicated to national reports and two sessions will be dedicatied to special presentations and practical use of geonames. Countries that will present their national reports on the meeting are Slovakia, Hungary, Ukraine, Czechia an Slovenia.

The Eleventh United Nations Conference on the Standardization of Geographical Names was held at United Nations Headquarters from 8 to 17 August 2017, in accordance with Economic and Social Council decision 2016/259. The Conference was attended by 278 participants. from 66 countries.

The European Data Portal harvests the metadata of Public Sector Information available on public data portals across European countries.
Portals can be national, regional, local or domain specific. They cover the 28 EU Member States, EEA, countries involved in the EU’s neighbourhood policy and Switzerland.
Information regarding the provision of data and the benefits of re-using data is also included.
Currently, the European portal published 592.470 sets of data, including Register of geographic names.
From 25 to 29 April 2016, 29th session of the UNGEGN (United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names) was held in Bangkok, Thailand. 29th Session of the UNGEGN, which was attended by 180 representatives, presented reports on the work of the United Nations Expert Group on Geographical Names, the activities of the working groups, issues that experts meet, as well as guidelines for their resolution.
The 30th Session of the UNGEGN shall be held on 7 and 18 August 2017 in New York, USA, while the 11th United Nations Conference on the Standardization of Geographical Names shall also be held in New York from 8 to 17 August 2017.

The website continues to follow the issue of geographical names, both at the global, regional and national level.
Data model of Croatian Register of geographical names has become compliant with requirements of Croatian SDI and INSPIRE Directive. Geographical names are a part of Annex I of SDI Law.
On January 21st 2015, viewing and downloading data services (WFS) for Gazetteer are possible to use. Services are available for data model compliant with the INSPIRE requirements. For data models adopted to the national model services will be provided later. More about the services and how to use them can be found on page Services.
On January 21st 2015, renewed web page of the Gazetteer of Geographical Names has become public. After a long period of time the web page is fundamentally restructured, and some new possibilities are established, like searching and viewing the result on official maps of Republic of Croatia.
